JOB TITLE: District Technology Technician
BOARD APPROVAL DATE: July 10, 2025
REPORTS TO: Technology Coordinator/Technology Operations Manager
CONTRACT: 260 days per year, 8 AM to 4:30 PM with ½ hour unpaid lunch.
SUMMARY: To assist the technology operations manager in maintaining the district network and related equipment in a condition of operating excellence that enhances the educational and operational facets of the district at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Must be self-motivated, be able to prioritize tasks, and work independently.
- Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance.
- Serves as a positive role model for students.
- Maintains strict confidentiality in all matters.
- Updates and maintains accurate inventory and service records in accordance with district policies.
- Image, install, configure, and troubleshoot computers, Chromebooks, software, and peripherals. Works with maintenance staff on construction installation projects.
- Installs network wiring and connections (e.g., servers, hubs, routers, etc.).
- Performs preventive maintenance and routine cleaning of equipment. Repairs equipment, maintains repair records, and submits warranty claims.
- Keeps the technology operations manager informed about work progress. Avoids disrupting building activities except during emergencies.
- Coordinates scheduled repairs by outside vendors with supervisor. Ensures that equipment is safe to use and available when needed.
- Requests permission and follows board-approved procedures for the disposal of fixed assets.
- Manages the district’s help desk.
- Prepares training materials and instruction sheets. Plans and present in-service programs and professional development for other staff members.
- Establishes and manages user accounts. Disables accounts and associated files at the end of the school year.
- Collaborates with teachers to explore adaptations that will enhance classroom activities.
- Sets up and operates equipment for special occasions.
- Evaluates new equipment and provides cost-factor information for computer repair.
- Develops and maintains the district’s web site. Works with the technology committee to update the district’s technology plan.
- Stay knowledgeable of new computer hardware, software, and research through contacts with publishers, representatives, professional organizations, reading of publications, and attending professional meetings.
- Performs other duties consistent with professional competence as assigned.

EDUCATION AND /OR EXPEREINCE:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associates’ Degree or 2 years of experience in a related position preferred.
- Successful experience with a computer service center, plus an ability to meet and work well with people.
- Experience in:
-Instructional media and technology programs.
-Network design, maintenance and management
-Computer and Chromebook repair.
-Knowledge of various Microsoft programs and Google Workspace.
-System troubleshooting and design.
-Experience with Server 2022, Windows 11, Chrome OS.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:
The employee will have an operational knowledge of either Chrome or Windows based computers and related technology. The employee will take advantage of all district level technology training that is appropriate to their job assignment.
REASONING ABILITY:
Able to follow clear written or spoken instructions, even if they aren’t highly detailed or complex. Can figure out how to solve everyday problems by using logical thinking, especially in situations where there might not be a standard procedure to follow.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects; tools; controls; reach with hands and arms; and taste or smell. The employee will be expected to lift and move typical classroom equipment such as interactive flat panels, uninterrupted battery supplies, and computers on moveable carts.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
The employee could be using either Chrome or Windows based computers and related technology on a regular basis.
